Residents of West Penwith will have the opportunity to discuss planning matters with Cornwall Council representatives at a meeting in Penzance on Thursday.

The West Penwith Community Network Panel will be joined by Cornwall Councillor Edwina Hannaford, portfolio holder for planning, and Phil Mason, head of planning and enterprise at Cornwall Council, at the meeting at St John's Hall in Alverton Street from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Local people will be invited to discuss general planning matters as well as the Local Plan; which sets outs how land is used and what will be built where. As part of this, people who come along will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Cornwall Councillor Bill Maddern, chair of the Community Network Panel, said: “We can’t solve all the issues that communities face on our own, the Community Network Panel helps elected members, officers, local representatives and agencies to work together.”

Cornwall Councillor Sue Nicholas, vice chair, said: “These meetings are an important opportunity to bring all the town and parishes in our area together to focus on key issues affecting the local communities.”

The West Penwith Community Network Panel meets bi-monthly and has identified priority issues, developed a work plan and involves discussion with other agencies including the police and health services. Some of the areas that the community network panel focuses on includes devolution, access to local health services, community safety, community planning and transport and highways issues.

The panel comprises all nine Cornwall Councillors for the area and representatives of the 15 town and parish councils in the West Penwith Community Network - Ludgvan, Madron, Marazion, Morvah, Paul, Penzance, Perranuthnoe, Sancreed, Sennen, St. Buryan, St. Hilary, St. Just In Penwith, St. Levan, St. Michael's Mount and Zennor.
