Could the Queen be coming to West Cornwall to open a new poetry project at the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum tomorrow?

That's what poet Sally Crabtree hopes, having sent her an invite to cut the ribbon and officially unveil the Poetry Postie project, which has the aim of 'delivering poetic inspiration to the nation.'

The project delivers it's inspiration in the form of lyrical letters, poetic parcels and sing-o-grams at events and venues across the country – from small village fetes to large music festivals such as Womad.

Sally has been chsen as an ambassador for National Poetry Day on October 6 this year, and has also recently returned from a visit to China funded by the Arts Council, working with schoolchildren in Shanghai.

Currently the Poetry Postie is working on a poetry pen pal exchange in Japan (supported by the Sasakawa Foundation) which will be a mobile app allowing users to send poetic postcards with messages of love, peace and happiness.

Poetry Postie will be having an official launch on Thursday, September 1, at Porthcurno Telegraph Museum which is a partner of the scheme, and there will be a live Q&A with the Poetry Postie at 1pm on Facebook.

Sally sent a letter to the Queen asking if she will attend the event to cut the ribbon, as well as dressing up as a postage stamp.

However, with only a day to go and still no RSVP from her majesty, we're not holding our breath.
