A group of 30 schoolchildren from St Ives have been involved in a crash which left a coach in a hedge near Penzance at lunchtime (25/1).

The children from St Ives School had been heading out on a trip when their 62 seater coach came off the A30 some time before 12.30pm today.

No children were reported injured, but the driver was taken to hospital.

A police spokesperson said: "Reports are that there are no injured children on the coach, all are safe and well, are off the coach and accounted for.

"The Coach is currently off the road and on a hedge."

Police closed the A30 at the A30 Newtown Roundabout and Crowlas Cross to arrange recovery of the coach, and while a replacement was sent to collect the children. Diversions have now been lifted.
