Police investigating a stabbing and beating in Penzance are asking the public for information about two cars they believe were involved in the attack.

A 35-year-old local man remains in hospital in a stable condition after being left with stab wounds to his legs and torso as well as head injuries following the attack on Sunday.

Detective Constable Jon Dash from Penzance CID, said: “We are appealing to the public to help us identify those involved in this brutal street attack. We believe four men were involved in the assault, all were wearing hooded tops and all wearing white dust masks which was covering their faces.

“At the time of the assault they were driven in a silver Mazda Bongo but it is believed that another car, a grey or black saloon was involved both before and after the incident.

“We would like to trace this vehicle, and we believe someone out there knows the names of the four men responsible for the attack. We urge you to come forward and speak to the police.”

Police were alerted at around 5.50pm on Sunday to the attack in Adelaide Street, and soon after the Mazda van was located by officers.

Two men aged 58 and 22, were arrested and questioned on suspicion of attempted murder. Both have been released on police bail until the 21st of June, pending further enquiries.
