Jubilee Pool in Penzance ended its summer season with something a little bit different last weekend, when it invited patrons and their pooches along for a paddle at the weekend.

Around 70 four legged friends came to the restored grade II listed, art-deco pool for a special swim session in the last hour before it closed for the winter, which will see the facility drained and cleaned.

The event was part of a day-long season finale party, ending the second summer season after the pool was refurbished and reopened following damage in the storms of 2014.

The pool was opened at 10.30am for a day of free swimming, including the chance to have one last go on the inflatable assault course and a timed inflatable challenge, before the dogs were let in at 3pm, with a suggested £3 donation per pet.

Oona Mills, from Friends of Jubilee Pool, said "We hope to do it again next year, and possibly for a few hours before each pool clean, which would be a few times over the season."

The friends' group added on Facebook: "What a perfect ending to a wonderful 2017 swimming season.

"You came out in your droves yesterday for our Season Finale Pool Party & Doggy Swim with 69 of our four legged friends taking a plunge in the pool joined by some enthusiastic owners."

The group has also said that it would love to see pictures and videos of the event uploaded to its Facebook page.
