Police are now looking for witnesses to an "altercation" that took place in Penzance at around 2.30am on Sunday.

Two men began arguing on Market Jew Street, close to the jewellers H Samuel, which resulted in a 21-year-old man receiving a head injury that has been described by police as "serious".

He was initially taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, before being transferred to Derriford Hospital for specialist care, where he remains this morning.

Police are now looking for a suspect who they described as white, approximately 6ft tall and wearing a white T-shirt.
