FRIDAY, November 10, saw the annual Cornwall Cricket Board golf day at St Austell Golf Club. Despite the severe weather of the week and again overnight into Friday, the course was open.

Some 14 teams took part in the Texas Scramble event and were lucky to escape with just a few sharp showers. Although the wind looked to be problematic some good scores came in throughout the day. The top three were:

  1. Colin Weeks, Simon Thomas, Jonny Smeaden and Mick Wheeler
  2. Nigel Hambly, Shane Richards, Matt Hart and Darren Kinsman
  3. Russell Milsom, Tim Pollard, Joel Matthews and Kev Briley

Kev Briley also took the award for the longest drive and Simon Johnson took nearest the pin.

Huge thank you to the golf club for their hospitality, for all the donations for raffle prizes and for all our hole sponsors:

  • The Logan Rock Inn
  • Peter George Transport
  • Newell Travel
  • Symons Construction
  • Horizon Home Improvements

Next year could see two golf days pre and post-season at hopefully two new venues.

Cornwall Cricket Board would like to thank everyone for their support on a day that could easily have been a washout resulting in a closed course.
