Fatal collision: St Just

A man has died after a crash on the A3071 near St Just on Wednesday evening.

Police say that at approximately 7.15pm a black Landrover Discovery, driven in the direction of Penzance, collided with a black Nissan X Trail which was being driven in the direction of St Just.

The male driver of the Discovery was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front seat passenger in the Discovery, a teenage boy,was airlifted to Treliske and treated for a broken arm.

The female passenger of the Nissan was treated by ambulance crews at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the PC 4648 Keenan at Camborne serious collisions unit, on 101, quoting log 706 of May 23.

Next of kin has been contacted but the deceased has not been formally identified.

The road was closed until 5.45am while investigations took place at the scene.
