The board of the South West Peninsula League has announced an agreement has been reached with league sponsors Carlsberg to extend its current deal.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Carlsberg will continue to sponsor all three Peninsula Leagues at a cost of £75,000 over the next three years (£25,000 per year).

The existing deal was due to expire at the end of this season, and it had been feared the company would elect not to continue their involvement with the league.

But chairman Mark Hayman and secretary Phil Hiscox confirmed the brewer’s commitment for an additional three seasons of sponsorship covering 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.

League Chairman Mark Hayman said: "In the current economic climate that has affected all of our member clubs, it is a great vote of confidence that a major company such as Carlsberg have committed their continuing support."

Company Secretary Philip Hiscox said "This investment gives the league the security to continue to provide regional football throughout Devon & Cornwall. It is used to the benefit of our clubs, and the local communities that those clubs serve.”
