Carne agrees to join St Austell as Yetton resumes light jogging
St Austell have announced the signing of midfielder Danny Carne from Truro City.
But the former Newquay player will not join player-manager Dan Nancarrow's Lillywhites until next week, after failing to finalise the details of his move in time for St Austell's trip to Liverton United in the Peninsula League tomorrow.
Truro manager Lee Hodges said: "Last Friday we had a chat and he indicated that he didn't want to leave the club but felt he wanted more game time, which I can understand, and I was expecting him just to drop back into the reserves.
"Then on Wednesday this week I woke up to everyone saying he was joining St Austell. I didn't know anything about that, so I spoke to Tracey and the upshot as I understand it was that St Austell were saying that I had agreed to this, which I certainly hadn't.
"We also pointed out that we hadn't received the seven days notice of approach for him. So they said 'Okay, we'll put in the notice.' So Danny will be with us for tomorrow's match - he did well at Borehamwood last Saturday - but we expect this to be his last match for us before joining St Austell."
Truro host fellow strugglers Maidenhead United at Treyew Road on Saturday in a crunch game that may yet come under threat from a spell of bad weather expected to hit Cornwall this weekend.
Kieffer Moore missed midweek training after feeling unwell, but is expected to be fit for Saturday's game. Calron Hall is also available for selection after his partner gave birth during the week.
Hodges will also be boosted by the news that talismanic striker Stewart Yetton has returned to some light running after a recent knee operation. Yetton revealed his progress via Twitter.
But Hodges was quick to stress that he will not rush Yetton's return.
"That was really promising," he said, "and the more opportunities he gets the quicker he will be back, but we're not putting any pressure on him by talking timescales."
Truro City squad to face Maidenhead: Luke McCormick, Calron Hall, Jake Ash, Lee Hodges, Ben Williams, Joe Broad, Marcus Martin, Cody Cooke, Les Afful, Andy Watkins, Kieffer Moore, Bobby Hopkinson, Danny Carne, Martin Watts.
