PENRYN ATHLETIC 4

Trevaskis (3), J. Roberts

Penryn Athletic took all three points away at Porthleven thanks to a first half hat trick from striker Kayne Trevaskis.

Both sides made a bright start to the game, with Porthleven seeing plenty of the ball early on.

But Penryn loked dangerous on the break, and Trevaskis finally opened the scoring on 13 minutes, latching on to a through ball played from midfield before smashing home off the underside of the bar past Tom Annear, who was 1deputising for the absent Symon Winnan in goal for the Fishermen.

And it was two minutes later when Trevaskis was left unmarked at the back post to nod in the simplest of finishes.

Inbetween, Porthleven played some lovely passing football, but with no cutting edge up front and a pourous back four, Penryn always looked dangerous with the ball.

Trevaskis completed his hat trick just before the half time whistle with a superb lob over Annear, which looked to have put the game beyond Porthleven.

The home side continued to battle away, but with the playing surface gradually deteriorating after a night of heavy rain, legs began to tire.

Jason Roberts, on as a second half substitute for David Broglino slotted in Penryn's fourth after breaking clear of the Port defence.

But the home side didn't allow heads to drop, and were rewarded for their gritty display with a brace of consolation goals right at the death.

First captain Dominic Batchelor rifled in a swerving volley from ten yards out, before Freddie Williams nodded in a scrappy second with the last kick of the game from free kick wide on the right.
