Mildren wins as rain forces more postponements

The wet weather is continuing to play havoc with the competitions at Budock Vean Golf Club, writes Keith Rashleigh.

On Sunday the Richard Burton Windows sponsored monthly medal was postponed. It is now scheduled to be played this Sunday, which unfortunately means losing yet another round of the Roger Mildren sponsored Winter League which has three rounds left to play - weather permitting.

Meanwhile on Wednesday the Ladies played a fun "string and fling" competition over nine holes on saturated ground. A length of string was issued depending on your handicap and this was used as a "freebie" to get you out of any scrapes one encountered such as your ball getting behind a tree or in a bush. You then throw away each length of string used until you have none left.

Shirley Mildren (pictured) certainly got her tactics right as she won with a score of 39. Runner up was the Ladies Captain Leslie Upperton with 41 and third was Tricia Blatter with 42.
