Penryn College’s young sports stars are at it again, with the cross country team shining and the swimming team showing their capabilities.

Over the course of the year the cross country team have been in supreme form, taking the county by storm and winning countless individual and team prizes.

It looks like that will continue well into 2013. In cold conditions last Saturday, the students of the College took part in the annual Schools Cross Country Championships, and despite the tough, muddy course the results were superb as ever.

The year 7 boys team just missed out on top spot, finishing as runners up, but the year 8 boys went one better and scooped the title.

The year 7 boys did well individually, with Jasper Hartley (5th) Floyd Ratcliffe (10th) Tom Bell (15th) Lucas Potts (20th) doing well, and Amy Walker showing she was just as capable in 12th place.

Felix Hartley and Byron Wood of Year 8 came in at 3rd and 5th respectively, with Ben Mitchell (14th) and Brody Kemp (15th) flying the flag for year 9. Matt Casey in year 11 also ran impressively coming in at 12th place for his age group.

Big congratulations must go to Felix and Jasper Hartley, as well as Byron Wood, who have all been selected to represent the county at a Regional Competition on the back of their performance.
