Helston receive planning permission for floodlights and grandstand
Helston Athletic have received planning permission for the installation of floodlights and a new 50-seater grandstand at their Kellaway Parc home.
The club have applied for promotion out of Peninsula League division one west next season, but must first comply with league rules that state their pitch must have floodlights and adequate covered seating before the its governing body allows them to move up into the premier division.
St Ives-based Architectural design company RA Design, run by Helston players Chris Strike and Tom Russell, have been helping the club draw up plans for the redevelopment. The next hurdle is to raise the necessary funds to make those plans a reality.
If the redevelopments go ahead as planned, it means the club will be eligible to enter lucrative FA competitions, including the FA Vase and FA Cup.
