The signed England shirt to be auctioned off at Falmouth Rugby Club
Over the Easter weekend Falmouth Rugby Club will be raising funds for their nominated charity of 2013, the Cornwall branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Club members and friends have already started to make donations to the cause, and the auction of a current England rugby shirt has been launched.
The shirt was presented to the club by David Martin, who is the Cornwall RFU representative at the RFU in Twickenham. David’s brother, Victor, passed away because of motor neurone disease in the early 1980s.
Victor was not only an accomplished player at Falmouth in his younger years but he also became a very highly regarded referee.
England head coach, Stuart Lancaster, supplied the shirt, which is signed by the players who were selected in the squad for the first game of this year’s Six Nations competition against Scotland at Twickenham on February 2nd. The shirt is accompanied by the match programme for that day.
Anyone interested in bidding for the shirt should phone Dave Addinall on 01326 311527.
On Maundy Thursday, March 28, the club has arranged a Spring Supper and Disco at the Merchants Manor where more funds will be raised.
Tickets are £20 each and they are available from Dave Addinall or Mike Morris by calling 01326 314273.
The final event is the traditional Easter Saturday match against the Old Dunstonians RFC, when all the entry fees will be donated to the charity and any remaining bids will be taken for the England shirt.
