ILLOGAN RBL 1

ST AUSTELL 2

St Austell are the 2013 Junior Cup winners after a controversial late goal saw them beat Illogan 2-1 at the Kimberley Stadium.

After a nervy start from both sides St Austell took the lead in the 12th minute when Ben Douglas was fouled in the box.

Phil Hutchings stepped up to fire his spot kick into the corner past Illogan keeper Shaun Carter.

Both sides huffed and puffed but lacked any fluency in their attacking games.

A spell of Illogan pressure immediately after the break led to them equalising when Gareth Pitt stabbed the ball over the line from barely a yard out after Ian Cullingham's 25 yard screamer cannoned out off the underside of the bar.

But Illogan were reduced to ten men when right back David Thomas was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Then with barely a minute left to play Douglas was brought down on the edge of the box by Ryan Treloar, who was also given his marching orders.

Hutchings stepped up to take the free kick, but his vicious strike deflected off the wall and into the six yard box where Douglas reacted quickest to spin on the spot and fire the winner in under Carter.
