PENRYN ATHLETIC 2
PERRANPORTH 1
Penryn Athletic are still in the hunt for fourth place in Peninsula League division one west after a testing 2-1 win against Perranporth at Kernick Road.
The home side came into the game refreshed after their victory against Truro City during the week and made a bright start, with Kayne Trevaskis and Dale Band seeing their shots well saved by Ben Mitchell in the Perranporth goal.
And it was Perranporth who took the lead against the run of play in the 35th minute thanks to a stunning long range effort from Josh Burton, which rocketed past Penryn keeper Chris Symons.
The visitors held on to their lead until the 60th minute when Trevaskis nipped in front of several Perranporth defenders to meet Ryan Chinn's pass and fire in the eqauliser at the near post.
Perran were still in the game, but with 16 minutes left to play Sean Johnson was brought down in the box and Dale Band stepped up to tuck away the spot kick and secure all three points.
