County 1
Stithians 227-9 Menheniot Looe 228-6

Following last year’s Division 2 County Final Menheniot Looe might had been excused for expecting an easy ride at home to Stithians but it wasn’t the case. Stithians were in trouble at 46 for five before Martin Strick came to the rescue to make 119 with four sixes and twelve fours. Callum Martin supported with 24. Mike Maiden took three early wickets at a cost of 33 runs. Similarly Menheniot Looe were 49 for four at one stage before their skipper, kiwi Ben Millar, won the game. His 125 not out included nine sixes with victory coming with eight balls to spare. Martin and Glyn Furnival both took two wickets. Stithians are at Hayle on Saturday.

Perranarworthal 194 Beacon 117
Success at last for Perranarworthal in league game number seven of the season. They still prop up the table but are at least in range of the likes of Beacon and Troon. David Legge made 33 and Michael Stuart 28 but at 111 for seven it looked ominous for the home side. In a good fightback Simon Blackburn made 82 and Steve Kemp 21. Dave Dowling and Darren Proctor both took three wickets. Only Robert Trembath (23) and Craig Thomas (10) got double figures for Beacon as they collapsed from 51 for two.  Perran will reflect on the 32 wides sent down. Constantine’s struggles continue with this sixth defeat of the season. It has been a difficult week for the club having taken the decision to withdraw its second team from Division Seven.
