A superb dislpay with both the bat and the ball saw Helston demolish Paul away from home on Saturday.

Opener Stuart Pethick hit an imperious 105, but it was the bowling of Peter Boyd that caught the eye, the Helston pace man posting figures of seven for 33 as Helston skittled Paul for just 95 runs.

The home side won the toss and elected to bowl on what was a damp wicket.

And the immediate suggestion was that it was the right decision. Pethick's opening partner Dan Jenkin (7) walked early on, but Ross Leathley's arrival at the crease signified a good spell for the visitors.

He and Pethick put on 75 runs, before Pethick's dismissal by Max Berryman with Helston on 143 for 2.

Josh Ninnis pitched in with 28 runs of his own, helping Helston to a total of 212 from 48 overs.

Paul's innings started badly, with Boyd immediately finding his line and length to claim the wicket of opener Dan Smith, clean bowled for a duck.

Ryan Cornish (29) did his best to dig in, but as the wickets tumbled around him Paul were left fighting a desperate rearguard.

Richard Hall (2) and Max Berryman (2) fell victim to Boyd, Tom Ruhrmund (13), lulled into a false sense of security by facing a bowler other than Boyd, was caught off the bowling of Dan Jenkin.

Matt Patching offered some token middle order resistance, but it was short-lived. He too fell victim to Boyd for just 22 runs.

Paul's tail end concertinaed in spectacular fashion. Kieran Bowden (0) and Ben Robinson (1) had barely enough time to take guard before Boyd sent them back to the pavillion.

Steve Jenkin got in on the act right at the death, claiming the wicket of Jordan Burr for yet another duck, before wrapping up the win for Helston by clean bowling tail ender Paul Bennett.
