8:13am Monday 12th August 2013 in Sport
Camborne Rugby Football Club has secured Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Sport England today revealed that more than 1,300 local sports projects across the country have now received National Lottery funding through Inspired Facilities, part of its Olympic and Paralympic legacy programme.
The £50,000 boosted by further Club funds will see a replacement roof cladding system for the Club building and provide a new heating and hot water system incorporating a high efficiency boiler to service the changing rooms. The existing roof has reached the end of its useful life and its replacement will include upgrading of the thermal efficiency in accordance with current Building Regulations.
Sport England’s Chair, Nick Bitel, said: “A year on from the Olympics, this National Lottery investment is helping us deliver a lasting sporting legacy in Cornwall.
“With investment now on offer from our Inspired Facilities Fund until 2017, we look forward to supporting many more sports clubs in the South West who play such a vital role in grassroots sport.”
Camborne Rugby Club’s Chairman Jason Mitchell, said “We are delighted to have secured this award under Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund to allow us to carry out the largest single capital investment project in our club for over twenty years. The grant will allow us to carry out essential refurbishment works to the roof and building fabric to ensure that the clubhouse continues to be the focal point for our club and wider community for many years to come. The award will also help us to modernise our changing facilities for the benefit of all our playing members young and old.”
Local MP, George Eustice, said "It is fantastic news that Camborne Rugby Club has secured a £50,000 award from Sport England to invest in their facilities. Camborne RFC has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has always played a central role in the community and this grant will be a major boost to our town."
Camborne Rugby Club is one of well over 300 projects across England receiving lottery investment from the fourth round of the Inspired Facilities fund and one of more than 1,300 to benefit overall.
Many more communities are now set to benefit from the hugely popular fund, after Sport England today announced that it was extending Inspired Facilities until 2017, with an additional £40 million of National Lottery funding to invest. Bids will be accepted for the next round of Inspired Facilities funding from the 21 October 2013. You can find out more at: www.sportengland.org/inspiredfacilities.
