Porthleven suffer first defeat of the season away at Mousehole
2:23pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in Sport
Porthleven's unbeaten start to the season in division one west came to an end away at Mousehole on Wednesday night.
But manager Dennis Annear was pleased with the way his side performed until an unfortunate late own goal from son Tom Annear handed victory to Wayne Quinn's side.
Mousehole took the lead in the tenth minute thanks to a goal from joint-manager Matt Shiels, who headed in from five yards out.
but Port equalised in the 25th minute when Freddie Williams burst down the wing and squared a ball for Matt Best to score his second goal in as many games.
Port took the lead 20 minutes in to the second half when Jordan Annear broke clear, and sqaured the ball from Freddie Williams to slot in Porthleven's second.
And for a time it looked as though Annear's side would make it three wins from three games as they clung doggedly on to their one goal lead.
But in the 84th minute Mousehole pulled level.
A ball over the top of the Porthleven back four released Mark Vercesi, and despite calls for offisde, he broke clear and fired in the equaliser.
And there was worse to come for Porthleven two minutes from time when a quick free kick taken by Mousehole joint-manager Wayne Quinn found Nick Pugliese, whose low cross drilled into the box ricocheted off the toe of Tom Annear and found the back of the net.
