Town off the bottom after convincing win over Liskeard
LISKEARD ATHLETIC 1
FALMOUTH TOWN 4
Falmouth Town are off the bottom of the Peninsula League premier division after a convincing 4-1 win over Liskeard at Lux Park on Tuesday night.
But Town had to come from behind to claim their first points of the season after struggling Liskeard took the lead early in the second half.
Ryan Lowton pounced on a mistake by Falmouth keeper Danny Burrows to put the Blues in front on 47 minutes, but their lead was short-lived.
Town equalised when Dan Richardson's teasing cross into the box was lashed in by striker Paul Cox.
And Cox turned provider in the 58th minute when his cross found the head of Ed Timmons, who headed in Falmouth's second.
In the 75th minute Andy Westgarth's crunching tackle on Blues keeper Jamie Blatchford resulted in the ball bobbling out to Steve Retchford, whose fine strike from 15 yards out made it 3-1.
Two goals clear and heading for their first win, Falmouth completed a fine evening's work in stoppage time when Westgarth slotted in the fourth.
