Penryn Athletic demolish league newcomers Bude at Kernick Road
PENRYN ATHLETIC 7
BUDE TOWN 1
Striker Kayne Trevaskis kept his fine run of form going with a man-of-the-match performance, but in truth, Penryn finished up outplaying their opponents all over the pitch.
There was little indication of what was to come at the start of the game, as Bude began by dominating a large proportion of the first 20 minutes despite failing to trouble Chris Symons in the Penryn goal.
But gradually Penryn came back into it, and on 30 minutes they opened the scoring when
Ollie Moody swung over a tantalising corner which David Broglino nipped in at the near post to head back across the keeper.
And then the floodgates opened.
Buoyed by their first goal, Penryn set about tearing Bude to pieces, with Trevaskis at the fore.
Soon after the first goal it was two when midfielder Ryan Chinn sent Moody away down the left, and he played it in to Trevasksi, who drew the last two defenders to square the ball across goal for Greg Hobbs to tap in.
As Bude were reeling, striker Trevaskis once again turned provider, this time slipping Hobbs clean through the middle to allow him to score Penryn's third.
A superb backheel from Trevaskis set up Hobbs for an equally impressive volley to complete his hat-trick, but Penryn weren't finished.
There was still another goal to come as Hobbs repaid the favour by playing in Trevaksis, who burst clear of his marker on the half way line, drew the last defender, and whacked it low and hard past the keeper to make it 5-0 at half time.
Bude momentarily pulled themselves together after the break, but Hobbs and Trevaskis were at it again not long into the second half when they combined well to carve Bude's back line apart and set up Penryn skipper David Blizzard with the simplest of tap-ins on 62 mintes.
Penryn emptied their subs bench early, sending on Tyler Cooke, Luke Brabyn and Matt Roberts. Goal scorers Chinn, Trevaskis and Hobbs came off.
But their removal from the game didn't prevent Penryn from scoring another in the 75th minute.
Brabyn and full back Russelk May linked up well down the left wing to set up Moody, who hammered a long range shot at goal which cannoned down off the cross bar. As the ball bounced down and out, substitute Matt Roberts was on hand to tap it in.
Bude did get a consolation goal in the 85the minuet as David Youldon got in behind the Penryn defence to score, but by then it didn't matter.
Penryn now sit fourth in division one west, with defeats in their opening two fixtures of the season a distant memory.
