FALMOUTH TOWN RESERVES 4

GOONHAVERN 2

Falmouth Town reserve team manager Bryn Wheeler laced up his boots and took to the field for the first time in ten months on Saturday as Town entertained Goonhavern at Bickland Park.

And on this evidence he may well decide to keep his boots handy for next week's game. Wheeler scored one, and set up two of Falmouth's goals as they ran out comfortable 4-2 winners.

As has so often been the case this season, the Falmouth manager was forced to make changes to his side after a number of his players were called up to first team duty.

But the changes seemed not to have affected Town, and the home side took an early lead thanks to a Tom Richards goal.

Richards turned provider minutes later when his darting run down the left resulted in him whipping a low ball into the box which Wheeler swept home to double Falmouth's lead.

And Falmouth were three up before the break when Wheeler repaid the favour, steering the ball into the path of Richards, who lashed in his second from just outside the box.

Lewis Watson pulled a goal back for Goonhavern, but Wheeler's cross late in the second half once again picked out Richards, who fired in Falmouth's fourth to complete his hat-trick.

Goonhavern gave the scoreline a semblance of respectability just before the full time whistle when Watson scored his second of the game.

LUDGVAN 8

FALMOUTH ATHLETIC 0

The nightmare continues for Falmouth Athletic, who were put to the sword by a rampant Ludgvan on Saturday.

Ross Badcock and Jack Ramsay put the home side into a two goal lead early on, as Athletic struggled in vain to get to grips with the pace of the game.

Mark Richards fired in the third before danger man Gerens James notched up his first of the afternoon just after the half hour mark.

Badcock slammed in a long range effort just before half time, but any hopes of a reprieve for Athletic in the second half were quickly dispelled when Harvey James, brother of Gerens, found the top corner to make it 6-0.

Highly-rated young keeper Harry McMellon made an excellent penalty save from Ramsay, but Gerens James scored a rapid-fire brace in the final ten minutes to complete his hat-trick and round off a thorougly miserable afternoon for Athletic.

TROON 3

PENRYN ATHLETIC 2

Bobby Bryant got Penryn off to an excellent start away from home against Troon on Saturday when his 25 yard free kick rocketed into the top corner, but after that the bright spots were few and far between.

Connnor Edgson went close to doubling the lead for Penryn but his shot was well saved by home keeper Craig Clinton.

And Penryn were made to pay for the miss on 25 minutes when defender Andrew House rose head and shoulders above the Penryn defence to nod in the equaliser from a Gareth Honer cross.

Chris Page put Penryn back in front from the penalty spot, but Penryn were unable to pull clear and once again Troon equalised through Connor Clarke.

Penryn saw a Rob Oldland goal disallowed before Clarke landed the killer blow, nodding in Richard Ward's corner.

ILLOGAN RBL 2

WENDRON UNITED 1

Wendron's promising start to the season hit a roadblock in the shape of Illogan on Saturday as the league leaders put an end to 'dron's unbeaten start to the season.

Luke Abbott-Smith's fine volley put Illogan ahead, and only Barry Wyatt's acrobatics in goal prevented Wendron from equalising before the break.

Wendron weren't to be denied, however, and they pulled a goal back soon after the restart when the ball bounced loose in the box and Ryan Tresidder fired in.

The two sides exchanged blows for much of the remaineder of the half, until with 75 minutes on the clock Illogan finally made a breakthrough.

It came from Abbott-Smith, who latched on to substitute Jack Coleman's pass to score the winner.

MULLION 0

REDRUTH UNITED 3

Victory for Redruth United moved them joint top of the table, and once again proved their promising start to the season owes nothing to luck - it was a comprehensive win over Mullion on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute when Adam Johns converted a dangerous cross from Brett Adams.

Ten minutes later Redruth were two up when Steve Walsh tapped in Johns' pass at the back post.

Mullion huffed and puffed but never seemed to threaten Redruth's dominance of the game, and with 75 minutes played the visitors sealed the win when substitute Kieran Knuckey came on and scored Redruth's third.

ST DAY 5

PORTHLEVEN 1

Early pace-setters in the league, St Day, kept up their fine start to the season with a 5-1 humbling of Porthleven at home.

But the visitors were in the game right up until the second half when three goals put paid to any hopes of a comeback.

Danny Ford put St Day into the lead after 17 minutes, and Mike Davies added a second before the break, before a Charlie Young strike pulled one back for Porthleven.

But Gavin Boon and Chris Tolley both scored to hand St Day what was an unassailable lead and a full share of the points.

RNAS CULDROSE 1

ST AGNES 1

New manager Ivan Shears' Culdrose side picked up their first points of the season after a battling display at home against St Agnes - but they had to come from behind to earn it.

Ben Earl gave the visitors the lead when he rose highest from a corner to nod in at the back post.

But on the stroke of half time Culdrose drew level when they were quickest to respond to a loose ball in the box and Dan O'Toole stabbed in the equaliser.

Both sides had chances to claim all three points during a closely contested second half, but defences came out on top, and in the end a point apiece was a fair result.

HAYLE 1

ST JUST 4

Hayle were simply no match for a powerful St Day side at Trevassack Park, with two goals eiether side of half time sending them home with all three points.

Stuart Nicholls opened the scoring with a fine strike from the edge of the box, before Tom Dann doubled the lead with another powerful strike.

Jack Willis added a third for St Day, and Darren Steadman finished the scoring off with the visitors' fourth of the day.

Hayle pulled back a late consolation goal when Kane Williams rifled in a fine effort from just outside the St Day penalty area.

ST IVES TOWN 2

NEWQUAY 2

Newquay may have feared the worst when an early goal saw them go behind after just two minutes, but they battled back to claim a share of the points at the Saltings.

Andrew Perkins put the home side ahead after just two minutes with a powerful header, but Newquay were level eight minutes later when Sam McKune slotted in a penalty.

And the Peppermints took the lead soon after when Dean fince jinked through the home defence to rifle in an excellent shot from almost 20 yards out.

But just before the break Scott Goodchild restored parity when his cross from wide on the left caught the wind and drifted in.

Both sides had chances to win it in the second half, but it remained 2-2.
