Two points dropped for Penryn Athletic at Oak Villa
VOSPERS OAK VILLA 2
PENRYN ATHLETIC 2
Vospers, whose team have recently undergone a transformation after the Plymouth Parkway reserves side moved their operation lock stock and barrel to the club, played well, but the game was not without controversy.
Penryn got off to the best possible start and were a goal up early on when Tyler Cooke's shot was tipped wide, and Ollie Moody's inswinging corner was helped into his own net by Vospers keeper Ian Evans - the ball looked to have been going behind before the keeper's intervention diverted its course.
But Penryn weren't ahead for long. Vospers equalised completely out of the blue when Jordan Hogan picked up a loose ball, cut inside from the left and rifled in a tremendous 30 yard effort that flew into Chris Symons's net, leaving the keeper no chance.
The goal seemed to give Villa heart, and Penryn's early dominance began to fade as the home side's confidence grew.
Dan Worth sent a shot just wide, but at the other end Sean Johnson steered a decent effort just wide of Evans's upright.
But it was all Penryn after the break, and sure enough they eventaully stretched the visitors to breaking point at the back, with one attack resulting in Evans impeding Kayne Trevaskis in the box, and David Broglino tucking away the resultant penalty.
Trevaksis had a chance to seal the win soon after, but his shot scraped the cross bar when a pass may have been a better option.
Ryan Chinn also saw a couple of shots sail wide of target whcih could have put the result beyond doubt.
And Penryn were made to pay for their misses minutes before the final whistle when the home side were handed a controversial penalty for a challenge by Ben Oliver on sub Jack Collier.
The Penryn captain had followed through from a clearance and caught Collier, despite playing the ball first. Waving away protests, referee Phil Hart pointed to the spot and Peter Foster crashed home the penalty to level the scores.
