Falmouth thrash Hayle, Porthleven put five past Troon: JCCL Roundup, September 14

The opening goal came courtesy of a superb Richard Kellow free kick into the top corner, before Wheeler bagged Falmouth's second after latching on to Ethan Fearn's goal kick and curling his shot around the keeper.

Wheeler came off after the break, but Falmouth were in the groove and went further ahead soon after when Simon Anderson came out on top in a one-on-one with Hayle keeper Scott Halliday and slotted in the third.

On 75 minutes in-form Tom Richards sealed an impressive win for Town when he scored his fifth goal in four games following a neat turn in the box.

Falmouth Athletic still have just the single win to their name this season after losing at home to Mullion at the Dracaena Playing Fields on Saturday.

Both Mullion goals came in the first half of what was a relatively flat encounter.

Rob Carey's scoring streak continued after he put Mullion ahead, and Ryan Trathen bagged the second just before the break.

Highly-rated Athletic keeper Harry McMellon made his second penalty save of the season when he kept out Steve Owen's spot kick, capping off another excellent display by the youngster.

Wendron manager Paul Murray's goal of turning his side into a real force in the Jolly's Combination League looks well on course. The 'Dron sit fourth in the table after demolishing Goonhavern at Under Lane on Saturday.

It was a dominant display by Wendron, who raced into an early lead thanks to a classy brace from Ryan Tressider.

Luke Wort's rasping volley increased Wendron's lead, followed by goals from Jason Roberts and Nathan Macintosh.

Matt Rowe's long range belter completed the scoring for the home side, with Adam Patterson registering a consolation goal late on for Goonhavern.

It's no secret that bottom club Porthleven were in need of a win after losing all seven of their games this season, but a 5-0 win at home against Troon will no doubt have come as a surprise to manager Tony Roberts.

Port benefitted from Freddie Williams' absence from first team duties due to work commitments, and it was his goal on 20 minutes that put Port ahead.

James Greet’s curled effort from the edge of the box made it two, and after the break he scored a second before Helston midfielder Charlie Young fired in the third.

Marcus Smith’s free kick rounded off the scoring for Port, who were impressive throughout the afternoon.

St Just ran out 3-2 winners at home against Culdrose, but in truth the margin of victory could have been far greater, with Culdrose indebted to keeper James Witnell for keeping the scoreline respectable.

Jack Willis opened the scoring for St Just, but Culdrose equalised through Simon Wilson’s poached goal.

Darren Steadman restored St Just’s lead with 20 minutes left to play, but back came Culdrose with Paul Simmons once again drawing them level.

The winner came on the stroke of full time when Rob Troon fired in from a corner.

Redruth United suffered defeat at home on Saturday at the hands of St Agnes, who scored both of their goals in the second half after a closely contested first 45 minutes.

Mike Burns opened the scoring on the hour mark after some neat build up play, and Dan O’Toole fired in the second late on after a sweeping move down the left wing.

Gerans James almost single-handedly dismantled Newquay at Jubilee Hall on Saturday, with the striker bagging two goals to move him on to 18 for the season.

He opened the scoring after half an hour, and Tom Patrick increased Ludgvan’s lead soon after with a good finish from a surging run.

Jack Ramsay’s second half penalty increased Ludgvan’s lead, before James notched his second of the afternoon, sweeping home a Ramsay pass.

Ramsay completed the scoring late on when he fired through a crowd of players.
