Stoppage time Ducker try secures dramatic win for Penryn against Teignmouth
Penryn are level on points with Burnham-on-Sea at the top of Western Counties West after Alex Ducker's late try saw them stun Teignmouth and snatch a stoppage time victory at the Memorial Ground on Saturday.
It marked the second week in a row the Borough have left it late, after their slender two point last-gasp victory over Tavistock last week.
A Jake Seviour penalty put Penryn into an early lead, but Will Sowden's try saw Teignmouth hit back.
On the stroke of half time Seviour's second kick of the game saw Penryn go in at the break leading 6-5. After the restart it was a tale of two kickers, with Seviour and Teignmouth's Mike Saxton trading penalties.
But with five minutes remaining the Devon side looked to have snatched the win when Chris Tidman went over, only for another Seviour penalty to leave the game poised on a knife edge with just a single point in it.
Then deep into stoppage time, just as the Borough looked to be heading for defeat, Alex Ducker raced over for his seventh try of the season to break Teignmouth hearts and make it three out of three for Penryn.
Elsewhere it was a less successful afternoon for the division's other Cornish teams, with Truro slumping to a heavy 39-3 defeat away at Okehampton, and St Ives (SW) suffering a narrow 21-23 defeat at home against Tavistock.
Full Western Counties West results were as follows:
Devonport Services 9 - 21 Burnham-on-Sea
Ivybridge 42 - 14 Bude

Paignton Saxons 14 - 27 Torquay Athletic
