Penzance  1 Falmouth  6

Falmouth travelled to bottom of the table Penzance on Saturday hoping to claim another three points.

Having lost three players due to illness, Amanda Wills and Alice Bowman were called up from the 2s. Falmouth started on the front foot from the very first whistle and early pressure bought a number of short corners.

The Penzance defence stood firm and Falmouth were unable to break the deadlock despite sustained pressure. A tactical change was called for as a Penzance substitution saw the Fal defence stretched and only just surviving some close calls. The game stayed at 0-0 until the break.

After half time Falmouth came out strong with Hanna Royle moving into the centre and Emily Dunstan switching to the left.

The right side combination of Clare Hudson and Rachael Tatlow soon provided the opening with Sam Dunstan getting the cheeky final touch to take it past the 'keeper.

Another goal from Dunstan and an own goal from the home defence took the game to 3-0 before Falmouth turned up the heat and Hudson completed a hat trick of goals.

The shine was taken off an otherwise perfect 2nd half by a fantastic solo effort from Penzance's Poppy Barlow; the reverse hit taking everyone by surprise. 6-1 the final score and Falmouth remain unbeaten at the top of the league table.

Falmouth (2)  1 Truro (2)  6

Falmouth 2's lost their home match at Penryn College to Truro 2’s but it was a more competitive game than the score suggests.

The home team worked hard but losing Amanda Wills (1's) and Amy Figgins (injured) meant the defence had to be rearranged.

Michelle Hares playing centre forward  for Truro 2's boosted their attack and kept them organised at the front and enabled them to make the most of their scoring opportunities.

Truro were 4-0 up at the interval but the Falmouth team put in a better second half performance with Bella Corbridge playing more confidently in her unaccustomed defensive position and Sonia Wilcox keeping the defence organised.

Hannah Whear worked tirelessly in mid field while Molly Phillips put in another good performance on the left. Gill Lister scored the goal from an Emma Bragg cross but the Falmouth final touch was elusive!

Falmouth Team: June Moore, Sonia Wilcox, Kirstie Brown, Bella Corbridge, Jeanette Coleman, Emily Byers, Emily Gusterson, Hannah Whear, Molly Phillips, Gill Lister, Emily Darnell, Marian Haynes, Emma Bragg.

On Saturday both Falmouth teams are at home at Penryn College, the 1sts playing Caradon at 10.30am and the 2nds Launceston at 12.00pm.
