Helston were thrashed 5-1 away at Callington on Saturday to make it two defeats in their last two outings in division one west.

As a result Sid Taylor's side slip to eighth in the table, a point behind Wadebridge and an enormous 15 points behind league leaders Mousehole who beat Perranporth 1-3 away from home.

And while it's true that it may be simply too early to write off Helston's hopes of promotion from the league, it's certainly going to be an uphill battle from this point on.

It was a happier afternoon for Penryn Athletic, who dug deep to secure a valuable point away at Sticker.

Sticker lose further ground to Mousehole at the top of the league, having played four games more.

Meanwhile Porthleven raced into the lead away at Vospers Oak Villa before allowing the home side back into the game, eventually coming away with a point.

Truro City were the other of the day's big winners. Anthony Reynolds's side hammered lowly Holsworthy 0-5 away from home to move up to sixth place in the league.

Full division one west results were as follows:

Bude Town 0 - 4 St Dennis
Callington Town 5 - 1 Helston Athletic
Dobwalls 3 - 0 Penzance
Holsworthy 0 - 5 Truro City
Perranporth 1 - 3 Mousehole
