Vospers Oak Villa 2 Porthleven 2

Porthleven suffered another bad day at the office away at Vospers Oak Villa, giving up a two goal lead and finishing the game without a recognised goalkeeper for the second time in as many weeks.

An injury to debutante Matt Quick in the Porthleven goal meant, just as he had done a week previously against Dobwalls, Tom Annear, son of manager Dennis, finished the game between the posts.

The injury to Quick was less serious than first anticipated - a dislocated rather than broken thumb - but it does mean Port will be forced to find a replacement before they welcome Bodmin Town to Gala Parc in the Senior Cup next week.

New signing Chris Blango made his first full start for Port and managed to get his name on the scoresheet as the Fishermen switched to a 4-4-2 formation for the first time this season, with Matt Best and Thomas Hawkin lining up as wing backs.

The first goal of the game came after just two minutes, Villa keeper Ian Evans racing off his line to make a clearance which Jordan Annear charged down. The ball richocheted off Annear's knee and into the back of the net.

Dan Worth's run and cross minutes later caused Port trouble at the back, but there were no Villa players in the box to get on the end of it.

Port's second came just before the ten minute mark when Blango put Dean Blatch under pressure, stole the ball and ran 20 yards before showing good composure to slide a shot past Evans.

Worth's effort on the turn forced a good save out of Quick, and a Liam Hunter corner was cleared by Villa before Jed McCardie's rampaging run into the box drew another good stop out of Evans.

Robbie Almond, recently signed from Dobwalls, looked dangerous all afternoon for Villa, but there was no malice in his 50/50 challenge on Quick which resulted in the keeper being forced to make a precuationary trip to Derriford hospital with a hand injury during half time.

Port almost went three up when Jordan Annear saw his lob come back off the bar, but Villa got back into the game just before the break when Ryan Bass went on a run, found Steve Blackburn with a pass and he beat Quick with a shot from a tight angle.

Five minutes after the break Villa equalised when Almond took advantage of some poor marking to fnish well.

And Tom Annear needed to be alert to make a fine on-handed stop from Worth minutes later.

Villa might have snatched all three points when Almond broke through the Port back line, only to see his fierce drive come back off the upright, bounce across goal and into Tom Annear's arms.

But as the game entered the final 15 miniutes both sides seemed to settle for a point, and 2-2 it stayed.
