An azure sky matching the colour of the sea greeted the grateful Falmouth golfers on Saturday as they emerged from the hibernation forced on them  by the inclement weather over the Christmas and New Year period.

Indeed with no wind it was t-shirts in January on a near perfect day for golf.

The monthly medal event sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services attracted a strong entry and saw Falmouth President’s Cup player Mark Trewin deservedly win with the best gross of the day 74 for a net 64.

Mark covered the front nine in 37 gross (2 over par) before achieving a level par gross 37 on the back nine. His round saw him card birdies at the 4th, and 10th holes.

Runner up was Andrew Bonnett who played steadily throughout, only to miss out on the countback having also returned a net 64.

Robbie Edgeson is getting among the prizes on a regular basis these days, and his solid net 65 earned him third place.

Fourth place went to Michael Bartlett with a satisfying net 66.

This Saturday is round seven of the Winter League.
