Over a third of the members at Budock Vean Golf Club were present to see their new Captain, Paul Upperton, "Drive -In" on the 2nd January.

Unfortunately, the saturated course meant that was all they could see or do so everyone repaired to the Club bar where they enjoyed an excellent buffet lunch.

The weather then prevented any competitions being played until Saturday when there was a good mixed turnout for the traditional Cross Country Texas Scramble competition over 10 testing holes.

All the scores were good but the winning team, with an outstanding net 34.6, were David Penrose, Bob Hartnell, Kevin Bate and Stephen Penrose.

On Sunday the delayed Monthly Medal was played with a good turnout.  Those playing before the rain/wind had a real advantage and one of them, Charlie Averiss, won with an excellent net 61.

However, two of those experiencing the heavy rain, Stephen Penrose and the new Captain, shot 65s to be second (on count back) and third.

The Ladies and Seniors are still waiting to play their first competitions in 2014.
