At the midway point of the season St Austell have played themselves into a strong position in the Premier division of the West Cornwall Table Tennis league.

A top of the table clash saw St Austell run away with a comfortable 8-2 win over Falmouth Docks C to move them top of the league. Brothers James and Alex Wright both won three with very impressive performances, with the pair averaging an 81 per cent win rate this season. They were backed up with two wins from Carl Baldry.

Docks C followed this up with a tightly fought draw away at Bridge A.

Will Abouelhana of Bridge proved the strongest player on the night, winning his three matches with some comfort. Austin Chapman and Kelly Reed both had one singles victory each.

Steve Lobb and David Plumb both won two points and triumphed in a narrow five end doubles match to secure the draw.

Docks B beat two man, Bridge A 8-2 to close within seven points of them in the table.

Martin Rule won both his matches, with Locryn Vanderveld and Paul Jenkin winning one each. Austin and Will both won one point for Bridge.

St Ives secured their second victory of the season with a 6-4 win over Docks D. Karim Ali and Mike Moore won two of their three, David Smith won one for St Ives. Malcolm Peters however was the stand out player of the match ending unbeaten, with Rob Hatherly winning Docks' fourth point of the match.

Docks E currently hold the top spot in the first division with a single point lead over Mounts Bay A who have a game in hand.

Docks E won 6-4 away at Penpol after losing by the same score at home to Cape Cornwall A. 

Callum Lewis won four of his six matches, Dennis and Dominique Williams both won three out of six for Docks. Adam Sparks produced a fine performance against Docks on his way to two points for Penpol, supported by Andy Senior with one from the singles one from the doubles. 

Congratulations go to Cape Cornwall's Scott Meagor for winning the first player of the month award this season for October/November with an average of over 96 per cent.

His good run of form continued with an unbeaten display against Docks E. Robert Fuller won two and David May one to secure the victory.

Cape are well placed in the league table after following this result with an 8,2 win over Mylor A. Scott and Robert both unbeaten in singles and doubles, David secured the final point.

Mounts Bay A are currently one point behind league leaders Docks E following two very convincing 8-2 victories over Mylor A and Peoples Palace B.

Nigel Cock continues his excellent unbeaten season winning all six of his matches, Mark Cock winning five and Rob Dyer three.

Peoples Palace B travelled to Harris Mill and came away win an 8-2 victory.

Simon Jacobs produced the best display winning his three, Paul Mallen and Brian Nicholls both won two. George Banfield was the strongest player for Mill winning two. Penpol's other match saw them claim their second victory of the season, beating Docks G 9-1.

In the second division, Marazion are clinging to the top spot after two tight draws against St Ives B and Docks H.

Over the two matches Harry Stanbury won four from six, Neil Pinkett three from six and Mike Elford only two.

Will Wynne and Josh Francis both won two singles and the doubles to help St Ives share the spoils.

Howard Baker excelled for Docks H ending unbeaten and Mark Snowdon won two in the draw against Marazion. Docks H then beat Docks L 8-2 with Howard again unbeaten, Stuart Denslow and Mark both won two from three.

Finley Thomson and Morgan Cardell winning one each for Docks L. The league would like to wish Peter Jackson, of Cape Cornwall B, a full and speedy recovery following a heart attack.

His two team-mates managed a draw away at Palace C as Howard Charman and Jeremy Oates both won two and teamed up to win the doubles.

Andy Parker won both his matches for Palace C to take his average to over 88 per cent for the season.

Docks J came out 6-4 winners at home to Docks K as David Greenough, Roger Scorse and Joe Tuffrey all won two. However Rafal Kmiec was too strong for them on the night winning his three, moving his average to over 86 per cent, and teaming up with Wayne Davis to win the doubles.

In the third division, Docks M have opened up a significant lead at the top of the table thanks to a 10,0 demolition of Saracens B and a 9,1 thumping of Palace E.

Dan Preston and Mark Tynan both unbeaten over the two matches, Dylan Tynan dropped the only point against Gareth Allen in a tight match which went to five ends. Dan's average is now up to 92 per cent for the season so far.

Saracens A are in second place after a whitewash over Docks Q, Freya Tuffrey, Paige Baker and Josh Preston have continued their strong start to the season. Cape C are third in the table after a 7-3 win against Palace E was followed by a 6-4 defeat to Mylor B. Kaye Stenner won five from six, Elaine Fuller three from three and Basil Stephens two from six.

In Mylor B's other match they romped to an 8-2 victory against Mounts Bay B. David Jenkin again finished the night unbeaten with Al Heuston and David Marshall both winning two.

Steven Clothier and Jensen Hatcher won one each for Mounts Bay. Docks N hosted Docks P with the home team managing a 7-3 victory. John Tuffrey finished unbeaten, Joe Tuffrey and Ian McLeod both won two from three.

Richard Crilly won the two points for Docks P before they travelled to Mounts Bay B and came away with a narrow 6-4 victory. Richard won two again, Chloe Crilly won all three with the pair winning the doubles. Stan Roynan won two for Mounts Bay, Jensen and Dave Hatcher both won one point.

In the final match Saracens B went to docks Q and managed to win 7-3. Aidan Rollason produced the strongest performance winning all his matches as well as the doubles with Hal Merritt, who won two, and Jago Chenoweth one. Lily Owen secured two points for Docks Q and Bryn Owen with the third.
