Illogan RBL 4 St Just 1

Illogan pulled further ahead at the top of the Jolly's Cornwall Combination League with a comfortable victory over St Just.

They took just 15 minutes to open their account, captain Simon Ellis firing in a free kick on the edge of the box.

But St Just hit back with a stunning free kick of their own courtesy of Neil Curnow, and might even have taken the lead had they shown more composure in front of goal.

As it was they were made to pay for not making more of their chances when Sam Waters fired in Illogan's second in the 38th minute.

Dan Richards put them 3-1 up after the restart, and Kevin Lawrence completed the scoring late on.

Penryn Athletic 2 Ludgvan 2

Penryn were rewarded with a point for their efforts after a battling performance saw them come from two goals down to hold title hopefuls Ludgvan to a 2-2 draw at Kernick Road.

Gerens James - who else - put Ludgvan ahead in the 20th minute, but Penryn were more than a match for the visitors during an evenely-contested first half.

Ludgvan finally broke them down after the restart when Jamie Devine volleyed in from a corner.

But a red card for the Ludgvan keeper after a challenge in the box allowed Penryn back into the game, with Ryan Reeve tucking away the spot kick.

And five minutes from time Penryn scored the all-important equaliser when Ross Symonds nodded in Sam Bromely's cross.

Troon 0 Mullion 3

Mullion's purple patch continued away at Troon on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The win means Mullion have scored an impressive 16 goals in three games, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

The visitors were two up at the break, Alan Thomas scoring the first with a volley from Dan Jenkin's cross.

And Thomas turned provider just before the break, crossing for Rob Carey to score the second with a powerful header.

Troon improved after the break, but Mullion always looked dangerous going forward.

And they wrapped up the win in the 70th minute when Thomas tapped in at the back post.

Perranwell 8 Falmouth Town 2

Perranwell put the game to bed before the break with a five goal blitz that Falmouth simply had no answer to.

Jimmy Thompson fired in the opener, before Matt Rowe nooded in the second.

Thompson scored a quick-fire brace soon after to complete his hat-trick, with Mike Rollason adding a fifth before hte half time whistle.

Falmouth improved after the break, but they conceded a sixth soon after the restart when Louie Jaspall tapped in the rebound after Luke Brabyn's free kick came back off the crossbar.

Brabyn scored the seventh from the penalty spot, before Darren Friend and Luke Appleton pulled two consolation goals back for Town.

But Rollason completed the rout in the 88th minute, scoring his second of the game.

Goonhavern 6 Falmouth Athletic 1

Falmouth Town may come to regret losing Matt McIlroy to Goonhavern after the forward scored five goals on his debut to help his new club register their biggest win of the season.

There was no hint of what was to come after Goonhavern were restricted to a single first half goal, courtesy of McIlory.

But after the break the former Town man took Athletic apart.

First he rifled in a forty yard free kick, before Joe Benney, son of Athletic manager Melville, pulled one back for the visitors.

McIlroy completed his hat-trick with a straightforward finish, and found the back of the net with an audacious bicycle kick for his fourth.

Adam Patterson got his name on the scoresheet before the McIlroy show finally drew to a close when he scored his fifth, latching on to Charlie Kemp's through ball to slide a shot past the keeper.

Redruth United 8 St Ives 0

Redruth's superb season continued at home against a young St Ives side on Saturday as the league's new boys registered their biggest Combination League win to date.

United dominated the game, scoring four goals either side of half time.

Ben Beesley scored a hat-trick, along with goals from Brett Adams, Carl Shorthouse, Jamie Cooper, Morrow Sanneh, and a penalty from keeper Barry Wyatt.

United remain third in the table, just a point behind second place Ludgvan but having played a game more.

RNAS Culdrose 1 Porthleven 1

A point simply is not enough for Porthleven at this stage of the season, but take nothing away from Tony Roberts's side, who battled hard all game.

An under-strength Culdrose side took the lead after ten minutes when Ricky Shivelock found the back of the net.

But Port plugged away, eventually earning an equaliser courtesy of Jack Prowse's free kick in the 50th minute.

Culdrose may have come away with all three points, but had an 80th minute goal ruled out by the referee.

St Agnes 3 Newquay 1

St Agnes bounced back from their 8-0 mauling away at Mullion last week with a comfortable win against Newquay.

Dwayne Britten opened the scoring for St Agnes after 20 minutes, converting Mike Burns's driven cross into the box.

Matt Eddy nodded in Tom Hill's corner soon after to put St Agnes two up, and 25 minutes from time Britten bagged a scrappy second following a goalmouth scramble.

Newquay pulled a goal back late on thanks to a strike from Lachlan Brace, but it was little more than a consolation.
