MULLION Football Club A are the West Cornwall Winter Pool League champions of division two after a 5-4 win last week, which meant that they cannot be caught in this division with just two weeks to go.

Paul Willetts, Darren Hill and Scott Patterson all won their singles in their win over Helston RBL B in division one, the top two are all square again as last week’s leaders, Wendron CC A, won 7-2 against St Keverne Band Club and Helston FC A had an 8-1 victory over the Coach & Horses.

The Atlantic Inn A team had a fine 7-2 victory over the Killigrew Inn, singles wins coming from Chris Slade, Justin Uren, J P Collins, Dean Williams and John Collins.

Helston RBL A edged a 5-4 win against third placed team, Lizard FC A. White Hart B also had a big win, 8-1 against Rodney Inn B and Constantine SC A edged out the Rodney Inn A team 5-4.

Mullion may have comfortably won division two, but the race for second remains a close run thing. Helston RFC A won a close game against White Hart A 5-4 to remain in second, while Paris A suffered a shock 6-3 defeat to Helston RBL D.

Tim Axtell, Chris Stringer, Ken Leonard and Dave Hunt all winning their singles for RBL D. Godolphin Club B gained points on the two above them chasing second with a 7-2 win over Bell Inn A.

Helston Cricket Club have been stuttering a little of late, but still look hot favourites to win division three despite a 5-4 loss to the Black Swan last week as second placed team Wendron CC B only managed a 5-4 win against Mullion FC B.

The Angel Hotel A team gained a couple of points as they put a probable end to the Harbour Inn’s promotion push by defeating them 7-2 and the Lion & Lamb team equalled that result with a 7-2 win against Helston RFC D. Treve Jacka, Craig Jacka, Keith Jacka, Lestyn Head and Tom Greenaway all won their singles for the Lion & Lamb.

Helston FC B are closing in on the division four title with a 6-3 win over the Queen Arms last week, but Red Lion A gained a good 7-2 win over Pairs B to remain in the chasing pack.

Wins from Martyn Athay, Matt Frost, Josh Richardson and Martin Johns helped the Atlantic Inn B team to a 5-4 win over the Bell Inn B team and Red Lion B had a fine 6-3 win over the Wheel Inn. Out of the Blue also had a good 6-3 win against Potters Bar A.

In the team knockout Wendron CC A defeated Red Lion A 5-0 in their semi-final and will play Helston FC A in the final.
