Cornish Pirates hooker Rob Elloway has been selected to play for the world's most famous invitational side, the Barbarians, in their match against the All Ireland League club Clontarf in Dublin this Wednesday.

Elloway follows in the footsteps of Tom Riley, who received a Barbarians call up last year when Pirates coach Ian Davies was in charge for their Remembrance Day fixture against the Combined Services.

This match will mark the millennium anniversary of the Battle of Clontarf and the Barbarians will be coached by Mike Ruddock, who guided Wales to the Six Nations and Grand Slam title in 2004.

Commenting on Rob's selection, Cornish Pirates' Director of Rugby, Ian Davies, said: "This is a fantastic and worthy achievement for Rob, and having myself been involved with the Barbarians in November I know he will have a great experience."
