Runners ready for Enys 10k race on Sunday
1:00pm Saturday 26th April 2014 in Sport
The annual Enys 10K road run, organised by the Rotary Club of Penryn will take place on Sunday.
The event starts from the main gate of Enys at 11am on Sunday and pre-race entries have been coming in and while people can register on the day there will only be a limited number of places which will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
To register in advance collect an entry form from one of the many local businesses around Penryn that have them, or visit www.penryn.rotary1290.org for a copy.
Race director, Terry Chapman, said: “Although the forecast says things are about to change, after this bright period with drying winds, conditions underfoot right now are just about perfect. Hedgerows along the race route through Mylor Downs are looking great and we’ve got a grand finish near Enys house.
“The café on the estate will be open with the grounds also open to paying visitors after the race. We continue to be very grateful to the trustees for our use of the estate, and for the support of our main sponsors, Heather and Lay, and Andyloos. We’re also very grateful to Kimberley’s for stepping in at the last minute with support for the goody-bags to be given to each finisher.
“Last year the event raised over £1,200 for a mix of local and national charities. This year we still plan to support Cornwall Hospice Care and the Rotary campaign to End Polio Now, but because of circumstances beyond our control, we may have to change our third nomination. Supporters and contestants can however be assured that if we do, we’ll pick another worthy local cause.”
