The Devenish qualifier, where the top 16 players go forward into a knockout, attracted an entry of 96 players at Falmouth Golf Club last Saturday on a bright dry day with a deceptive breeze which saw just the top ten achieving par or better with the competition SS at 38 stableford points.

Bob Pine deservedly won with a fine total of 42 points. His front nine of 23 points included a “four pointer” at the stroke 1 seventh. His back nine included another "4 pointer" at the 15th. before a "blob" at the par 5 seventeenth almost proved costly before a net par at the last gave him 19 points over the back nine to win by one from Connor Davidson who played solidly throughout for respective nines of 19 and 22 points. Third was Dave Walsh who also played well to card 41 points with nines of 20 and 21 points respectively.

The two`s proved most interesting as five were recorded but of the five only Paul Collins entered and duly walked away with the £95-00 jackpot. Cheers Gents!

Following the worst winter anyone can recall the course is now looking in superb condition with immaculate greens. Full credit must go to Head Green keeper Simon Johnson. His assistant Keith Kellow and the rest of the team (see picture). The newly created holes, complete with a forest of newly planted trees, are also coming along very nicely and look as though they will test the members to the full in the not too distant future.
