Penryn picked up six more valuable points over the bank holiday weekend, and although it was against the lower sides there have been no easy matches in this season's Peninsula League Division One West.

The 2-1 win at Foxhole who are bottom was a touch and go affair on a very bumpy Goverseth ground. Skipper Ben Oliver put Penryn in front with a powerful header on 30 minutes from David Broglino's corner. Brett Cole equalised for Foxhole in the 70th minute as his free kick bounced over Symons who had the original shot covered. Almost immediately after, Will Scoley put Penryn back in front with a tremendous strike which rattled inside the home keeper’s side netting. Cole hit the Penryn crossbar again with another free kick but before the end he was sent off for a petulant tackle on Rob Hosking.

Penryn's final match of the season on bank holiday Monday should have been a breeze when a Dave Broglino free kick flew past Jack Dixon, going in off the underside of the crossbar. Penryn were, however, made to fight all the way, and even a second goal, credited to Russell May on the stroke of half time, did not deter the  visitors, who had the biggest trip to Penryn of anyone in the league. Goalkeeper Chris Symons had to be at his best to keep Penryn in with a reasonably good chance of holding on to the 5th place spot.

The league this season has been of a good competitive standard, but Penryn have managed to finish the season extremely well, with seven wins in their final eight games.
Penryn’s good form has been augmented by the good form of David Blizzard in defence and the threat offered by Ed Wilton’s pace in attack.

Despite Penryn’s season having finished they will have to wait to find out if they finish 5th. Truro have one more game to play, while Wadebridge have two, and both could overhaul Penryn’s points total.
