Young aspiring squash players between the ages of 8 & 17 from all over Cornwall played in a Junior Grand Prix held at Falmouth Sports Club last weekend. This is a one day event & attracted 26 junior entrants.

The idea is to set leagues with 5 or 6 equal ability squash players in each league played in a round robin format. Each plays one game to 15 points with the total points counting towards the overall score.

The leagues for this event comprised of many exciting matches, with close games being taken right to the wire, in many cases with the match being won by just one point!

Out of the 5 leagues, Falmouth juniors did exceptionally well claiming 4 First positions and 2 Second positions.

Siobhan Garland, Club coach, said: "Well done to all the children who took part in this tournament.  The level of competition was really hot, making it a most enjoyable tournament. We are very proud of our youngsters for doing so well!"
