Boats taking part in the Falmouth Classics Rally and Regatta have arrived in Falmouth for the 2014 edition of the event.

Vessels dating back to Victorian times will be on show and racing during the meet around the town's waters.

A change as part of this year's festival will see the Parade of Power and Sail section of the three day event moved from the inner harbour to Carrick Roads.

Organisers of the festival made this switch after bad weather hampered the display, adding the move will also allow bigger vessels to take part too.

A spokesperson said: “This change will enable the larger boats which were banned from last year's parade to take part, making the magnificent spectacle of pilot cutters, working boats and other traditional craft under full sail.”

Alongside the parades and displays, three races will also be part of the agenda during the festival with boats from yacht clubs from around the region participating.

Racing begins at 12.30pm on Friday and Saturday with the last of the races starting at 11.30am on Sunday.

Spectators will also be able to enjoy the entertainment from the annual International Sea Shanty Festival which is run at the same time of the regatta.

Events for this festival will see shows taking place around Events Square, Custom House Quay and other parts of Falmouth over the three days with singing set to carry on until 1am.
