OLYMPIC rowing champion Helen Glover has been reunited with her gold medal winning partner for the next world cup meeting.

The 27-year-old from Penzance has been put together with Heather Stanning again ahead of the World Rowing Cup meet in Aigubelette, France, which starts on Friday, June 20.

Their boat will take part in the women’s coxless pairs, the same discipline they won a gold medal for at the Olympics in London two years ago, which was the first one won by Team GB at the games.

Following the games success, Stanning spent time away from rowing to concentrate on her military career which included serving out in Afghanistan with the Royal Artillery last year.

Glover has been partnered by Polly Swann during Stanning’s hiatus and the duo won the World Championships last year in South Korea last year and European Championships in Belgrade earlier this month.

It had been hoped Stanning would be fit for the competition in Serbia but had to be rested after showing signs of fatigue during training.

During the Team GB rowing trials in April, national coaches said Stanning was showing “promising signs” of being back to her best after winning the pairs race with Glover.
