CORNWALL'S golf team have won their way into the England County Cup final for the second time.

The Duchy's team will be involved in the final at the Royal North Devon Golf Course when the three day match starts on September 26 for the first time since 1997 after winning the South West region qualifier.

Facing off against five other counties, Cornwall's players carded a combined score of ten over par, six ahead of nearest rivals Gloucestershire and Devon, at the end of the weather affected contest which saw the competition sliced from 36 holes to 18 due to storms.

Scoring was done using strokeplay with the six golfers, nominated by their captains, cards from each team being combined for their side's final total.

Star of the show was Tom Fox, a member of China Fleet Golf Club in Saltash, who carded -4 while Bude's Adam Curtis had a round of +1 and West Cornwall's Harry Hall finishing on +2.

Perranporth's Conor Wilson scored +3 and Matt Richards, West Cornwall, and Rob MacGregor, Tehidy Park, carded rounds of +4.
