STRONG breezes forced the cancellation of one racing class at a Flushing Sailing Club meeting on Tuesday June 10.

Race stewards had to call off the G class on safety grounds due to the weather conditions after competitors retired soon after taking to the water.

This did not prevent seven other classes heading out to race though as crews braved the stiff winds.

Geoff Davies won on board Scorpion in the E class which saw a number of boats battle hard against the weather with Atalanta having to retire after getting a rip in the main sail.

A fascinating race was had in the U class as several vessels battled it out to cross the line first, with the win eventually going to the crew on board Gap Year.
