JUST a week after seeing their first team have more than 500 scored against them, Stithians second XI chased down 239 runs to beat Mullion seconds by six wickets.

Three places and 17 points separated the teams in the league before the start of play.

Mullion won the toss and elected to bat and reached 239 in their 40 overs, for the loss of seven wickets. Trevor Lee scored a superb 135, being well supported by Luc Evans and Mark Jennings.

Young Jim Lee batted well towards the end, scoring 20 with visiting bowler Michael Rodwell getting figures of three for ten.

Mullion was certainly the happier of the two teams at tea.

Stithians’ innings started with Jonty Wheatley bowling their opening batsman with the first ball, but that was all Mullion had to cheer about.

Simon Hamilton hit 94 not out and Tom Rodwell, score 103, set about the Mullion attack reaching the total in only 30 overs. Jonty Wheatley took three for 77 giving him the inning’s best figures.
