SAILING: Pursuit series finishes at Mylor

A FIRST place finish in the final Skinners Brewery Pursuit Series race of the season saw the Mary Boon claim the title at Mylor Yacht Club.

The boat skippered by John Cruise was elevated to winner after another boat, Albin Nova Aura manned by Danielle Beattie, crossed the line first but was later penalised for starting too early.

The day had dawned bright and fair so the wind, which was blowing from the east at the start of the race, gradually veered as the race progressed and the sea breeze built up.

Mary Boon was the second boat away in the morning and managed to hold on to the lead until the very last minutes of the race, when the Aura sailed past.

Unfortunately for Beattie, Aura had been 5 seconds early at their start, so took a two minute time penalty and came second.
T

his did not affect the outcome in the series results with Mary Boon taking first place, with five points. General Khaos, who came fourth in this race, took second place in the series with seven points.
