A RED hot round in sunny weather at Falmouth Golf Club was enough for one player to claim a tournament win.

The McGregor Trophy sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services was contested on Wednesday with Phil Jones carding an untouchable 42 stableford points to take first place.

Shaun Ramsey was runner up with another good haul of 39 points. Third was Keith Popperwell with 38 points and fourth was Harry Perry with 37 points.

Saturday’s stableford saw Andy J Anderson take top spot with 41 points just pipping Andy Morris on countback. Andy looked to have it in the bag but a bogey at 17 followed by a double bogey at 18 cost him dearly.

Third was “Mr Consistency” Keith Popperwell who carded 38 points and just enough to edge Malcolm “Bert” Coulls into fourth place on countback.
This Saturday is the Martin Furze Cup.
