GOLFERS enjoyed the hot weather at Mullion as two open competitions were held there.

A field of 99 ladies played in teams of three two scores to count on each hole for the Ladies Open Day. The scores were very good everyone saying what good condition the course was in, thanks to the Head Greenkeeper and his staff, we came in to an excellent meal thanks Barry and were well 'watered' at the 19th thanks to all the bar staff.

Then the following day the men had their Open Medal competition.

Teams of 4 with two scores to count on a glorious sunny day with a very gentle breeze, the scoring reflected the easy conditions with the winners Tony Bayliss, Ian Stanley, Iain Lunt and John Ratcliffe coming in with a score of -21. Second just a shot behind were Dave Howe, Carl Piper, Alan Trerise and Rob Casley, who also scored a hole in one on the 8th.

Third place went to Rebecca Gush, Alison Meagor, Fiona Pocklington, and Liz Shone who were also 20 under par. In fourth place were Chris Harris, Gareth Owen, Ashley Spinks and Glenn Fortune with 18 under.

They beat Andrew Prouse, Anthony Ley, Richard Hosking and Dennis Nicholls. Fifth place on -17 were Chris Timmins, Dan Jenkin, Mike Torr and Anthony Williams.
