IT was a record breaking night for experienced runner Emma Stepto as she set three new marks in Cornwall for the 10k distance.

She was one of the 31 competitors who lined up for the Duchy Athletic Network’s County 10,000m Championships held in Par.

The Cornwall Athletics Club runner who was the first women home in the 40 – 44-year-old age category at this year’s London Marathon completed the race in 34:39 claiming the Women’s title.

Alongside this achievement, Stepto’s time was also good enough to break the Championship record in the senior and veteran ladies section records along with a new mark in the County Veterans category.

Male members of the Pool-based club who Stepto runs for also enjoyed a successful evening.

Justin Thomas won the Men’s race in a time of 34:09 finishing a full 43 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Josh Carnell of the East Cornwall Harriers, while third place went to Paul Whear of Carn Runners who ran around the track in 35:01.
