TEENAGER Jack Nancarrow has been named as Cornwall’s best newcomer in athletics after a series of victories on the track over the past 12 months.
The 15-year-old Penryn College student, pictured above, was given the award at the Cornwall Athletics Annual Presentation evening for his efforts in the 400m, 4x400m relay, 800m and steeplechase disciplines.
During the last year, Nancarrow has won a number of races and even made the transition up from his own age group to the under 17s category for Cornwall and Devon.
This has not scared the teen at all though as he recorded a third place finish in the 400m at the South West Regional Finals held in Cheltenham last month during a season which has seen him set new personal bests at the same distance and also the 800m.
On top of athletics, Nancarrow also regularly plays for Penryn Rugby Club and represents his school in both rugby and football.
